Update from Gerard:
\nHe received his ZS7KX call sign today, 5th October 2011.
\nHe writes: “The storm is over and we have exelent weather. I work outside with a T shirt. Temp -16C with no wind and sun shine. You can now feel the heat from the sun. Sun glasses are now a must. Sun block cream is next. Dont know how I am going to survive the heat in SA.”<\/p>\n

Hi Jim en Pam,
\nHoor min van julle. Ek is op 20 meter vir wat dit werd is. Julle in SA kan my goed hoor, maar ek sukkel hierdie kant. Eerstens is my shack naby aan die hitte uitruiler waar daar “variable frequency speed drive motors” gebruik word. S5 op die Icom wat ek gebruik. Ek sit dit af as ek op radio die is.
\nEk is gewoonlik 16h00 en 17h00 in die shack. Tydens storms hier is die static so hoog dat ek nie aan die coax kan vat nie. Ek kan enige tyd van die dag op 20m wees as dit julle pas. Laat weet net.
\nDie winter is op ‘n manier verby vir ons. Die son is terug. Vandag 4 ure sonskyn gehad en ek was 6 ure buite teen -20 grade C, ‘n warm dag! Ons was vandag “Winter depot” toe om te gaan kyk hoe alles daar die winter oorleef het. Al die containers en slees wat ons op 2 tot 3 meter hoe sneeu gestoor het is nou gelyk met die aarde. Gelukkig nie onder nie. Een van die dae moet alles uit die “depot” weer uitgesleep word vir die volgende oorname. Ek kan dit nie glo nie, my jaar is amper verby net toe dit begin lekker word hier. Dit is nog 6 maande, maar hier aan onderkant van die aarde gaan tyd baie vinniger as by julle.
